Hi! My name is Julia, I am a mother of 4 amazing kids and I know what it's like to be overwhelmed when it comes to meal planning.
I used to go to the grocery store without a list and hope I could find stuff that sounded good to make. My cart was full of random food and I found myself wasting a lot of it. Then I thought back to what my mom used to do when she went to the store...she made a list.
A list will solve my problem!
Wrong.
Even when I stuck to the list, I didn’t have a complete plan of what I would be making all week. I still found myself filling my cart with a bunch of random items that I didn’t need. And now I had even more food wasted because I didn’t have a plan for all the stuff on the list.
Not only was I wasting money, but I was wasting additional time writing the stupid list and it wasn’t helping me.
Then I had an “ah-ha” moment...the solution was meal planning!
When I started to plan my weekly meals, it was taking me hours because I got dragged down different rabbit holes with every recipe search. Once I tracked down my main dish, I had to go on the recipe search again to find side dishes to pair with them and that consumed even more time. After I had all my meals planned out, I had to spend more time writing out all the ingredients for my shopping list.
I just spent 5+ hours planning out my week and still had to get all the ingredients from the grocery store and cook! Out of all this, the most frustrating part was having to go through my recipe books or online archives every night to find each recipe.
This was saving me money, but I just didn’t have the time or energy to do this week after week and it seemed easier to go back to my old habits.
I knew I was not the only one with this struggle and there had to be a better solution! I’m guessing you are reading this because you want to save time and money or you want help knowing what to eat.
